Stargo BT with T-REX Drives was created by PhilRob
Hi,

I have a Stargo Bluetooth system with the T-REX Drive Kit.

I have installed the stepper motors but the stepper motors seem to continually bind randomly when slewing/tracking no matter what tension I set on the belts.

Is there a proper installation guide and recommended tensioning for this system?

Thanks

PS Just a quick update: The T-REX is a Japanese Alt-Az mount. I have just finished adjusting and re-meshing the worms so the mount runs very smoothly in push to or manual guided modes.

Hi Phil,
I'm sure you've thought of this, but perhaps double check you have the correct mcf selected in the Stargo. I have the Avalon steppers installed on an old EQ mount and they work perfectly - a vast improvement on the motors I used to have on it.

Hi jg,

Yes. I do have the correct Configuration Profile for the mount.

The issue seems to be either physical tensioning of the belt drives, which I have spent extensive time adjusting or the stepper motors themselves under load.

Unfortunately I have no guidance/manual on the belt drive tensioning and alignment....although alignment wise there is not much room for movement/change there anyway.

Cheers
Phil

Hi Phil,
Yes, there is not much movement to tension the belt, but I’ve not needed much - tight, but definitely not maximum works for me. Have you tried running motors without OTA load and even without belts - do they still stall? If so, then sounds like something wrong with motors.

Also, what V power supply are you using?
