Hello, I bought the Avalon Losmandy HQ motor kit and I am installing it on my G11 mount. The cuestion is: should be marked any of the RA or DEC reverse motor direction check boxes in the StarGo advanced panel? Thank you.
In that case there must be some problem with the motors because If I take a picture for 2 minutes (for example) with motors stopped there is much less trails in the stars than with motors engaged running the guide mode. Checking RA motor direction box it does not happen. What is the problem? I am a bit confused!
The slew/tracking motor direction it depends on wich side, inside the StarGo board, the mother board connector are plugged with the RS232 connectors.
Since when the StarGo Stand Alone it is purchased, we are not aware about the final user mount, we cannot test the correct mount slew direction.
So, in case of wrong mount slew/tracking direction, there are two way to obtain the correct behaviour:
1. By opening the StarGo board and reverse the motor cable connector side (watch the attached tutorial)
2. By checking the software REVERSE MOTOR DIR. option.
We developed the REVERSE MOTOR DIR. option in order to allow the user to change this parameter in a more comfortably way.
So, in order to check the correct mount behaviour, please try to perform a GoTo by using any planetary software as Carte du ciel, Stellarium etc…
In case of wrong direction slew for one or both axis, in order to obtain the correct mount behaviour, choose among the two option above mentioned your preferred one.
