Important Tracking with Losmandy HQ motor kit

Thank you for allowing me access to support. I have aquired the Stargo stand alone controller with the Losmandy HQ motor kit for my G11 mount second hand and I am attempting to do the necessary updates.  While using the product with the older version I have seen extremely poor  tracking performance both with the keypad only control and with the PC software.  It is my impression that the tracking is much too  fast in RA and reversing the direction does not solve the problem. My location data is good I believe, as is my polar alignment.
My current version of Stargo is 7.0.3
Firmware version 5.6.6
Ascom V.7.0.0.30
Losmandy HQ equatorial (G11 HQ motor kit)

It is asking me to update to V 7.0.0 firmware. I wanted to make sure what is the highest version my 10 year plus Stargo standalone controller can support. I will read thread on firmware upgrade installation procedure. I didn't want to risk losing all functionality until I was able to make contact here for support.

To eliminate contribution of the problem from the mount itself I have timed the rotations of the large pulley on my RA motor kit driving the RA worm both under load and with the coupler open. One rotation is fairly consistently 1 minute and 53 seconds. though it will vary a second or so. Should that not be 2:00 minutes for a 1440 (2 rotations per worm cycle?) what might be causing the rate to be that much too fast? is this related to out of date firmware in any way?
My experiments were over 6 worm cycles and done with the keypad only no pc software running but the same problem is seen running the pc software. I cant do tracking adjust because the error is too large to guide.
any thoughts? 

I made an error in haste and followed the prompt to receive firmware version 7.0.0 . My system now is running 7.0.0 and after loading the mount files for Losmandy HQ 1440 it tells me to use 6.4.0 (as you did,) clicking on the system tab and uploading firmware is not functional. The screen simply disappears. How might I roll back to 6.4.0 or otherwise make my unit functional for gear ratios of 1000 or above. Thank you for your help

I would also mention I repeated the bundled installation again and it deleted the previous version and installed but the firmware remains 7.0.0 not 6.4.0

Yes, I was successful. I await some clear sky to test tracking. Thank you for your help.
