The "classical" StarGO controller - as it is included in the LINEAR mount by default - is based on a very different architecture in both hard- and software as the new StarGO2 Pro, which is the topic of this thread. There should be no problem with the ASIAIR, because the classical controller has an ST4 connector, while the new StarGO2 Pro does not.

The new Pro controller is based on a Raspberry Pi4 mini-computer, running linux and a stand-alone INDI server. While this has a lot of advantages in controlling this mount, it has currently some limitations regarding compatibility with the ASIAIR. Again, this "only" relates to the new StarGO2 Pro controller, but not to the built-in controllers for the LINEAR and M-Uno.

It has been a while. Any update on the new INDI drivers for maximum compatibility with the ASIAIR?
Some mount manufacturers are using the onstep drivers/protocol for better compatibility with the ASIAIR. Maybe a way to go here, too?!

I really would appreciate an update on this topic.

Lots of nice new hardware releases by Avalon lately ... nothing new on the software side?

The supplied INDI version on the StarGO2 is becoming very old. And there is still poor compatibility with the ASIAIR.

@Stefano

I just saw the new StarGO2 Plus. Looks nice.

The firmware number is 2.0…2023…  Does this mean, we can expect an update for the StarGO2 Pro firmware & software as well? Including bug fixes and updates of the drivers for the ASIAIR and/or INDIGO with an LX200 protocol?

Hi all

here we are going to reply to some questions arised on this topic. This issue has been also discusses on the CN forum as well, so the reply it will be pretty similar.

The StarGo2 Pro can works with all INDI/ASCOM Alpaca devices and system, we mean that we have tested it with Windows, Linux, Ubuntu, Mac Os and Raspberry PI, connected via INDI driver and ASCOM Alpaca (where available) using the following softwares: Kstar, Carte du Ciel, CCD ciel, Stellarium, PHD2 guiding and NINA (and others) and the tests has been performed on both the mount and the focuser driver and we dind’t find any connection issue as shown and explained in the StarGo2 User Manual.

We know that there are still some connection issues with few other systems but considering that all the above test are ok, we think that this can be enough in order to consider the StarGo2 Pro/Plus as a “All in one Astrophotography system”.

In case someone find some problems with the above softwares or operative system or platform, please let us know about.

Since the internal GoTo system is strictly connected to it’s INDI driver, we blocked the standard Raspberry PI system update to avoid internal Operative System corruption.

So it will be our care to release the future system update as soon as we will test it, to be sure that everything works in the proper way.

Moreover we are still working on the SkySafari/LX200 protocol, so, as we found a solution it will be surely fixed in one of the next update.

Anyway, we inform that a new release with the latest LINUX/INDI/EKOS/Kstars version will be soon released.
