Did anyone here measure the periodic error and/or the tracking performance without guiding with PhD2 or another software? Since the drive systems are probably very similar among all the Avalon mounts, I expect the PE/tracking to be comparable among all mounts.
This is indeed interesting. The PE is very large compared to other mounts, but at the same time very slow and very smooth and hence very easily be corrected with an auto-guider.
This makes unguided images with long subs not really possible, but short subs might still work, but the usable image area might be reduced by a couple of arcminutes.
