ASIAIR and the StarGO2 family are both using their own INDI servers which cannot communicate to each other. I tried StellarMate with the two INDI Servers in the "Daisy chain" mode... very unstable.
The ASIAIR can only communicate to the StarGO2 via port 9624, which is by default the SkySafari driver. It works for some basic functions like GoTo, but not for guiding! The SkySafari driver creates a bridge between the native INDI driver on port 7624 on the StarGO2 and the ASIAIR. It only supports a few commands within the LX200 protocol.
Pegasus has solved this "problem" on their new Nyx mount by being compatible with the OnStep drivers/protocol. Very smart.
So, I do not think that the EQMOD cable can be a workaround. How would you connect the EQMOD cable to the StarGO2? There is no RJ45 port on the StarGO2! Deliberately, to be fully depended on their INDI server and ASCOM interface. This makes a lot of sense, but limits its usage if the drivers and protocols are not fully supported,
