Replacing belts necessary? was created by sterne-jaeger
Hi all,
my Avalon Linear is meanwhile 8 years old and works very well generally. From time to time I have elongated stars in the RA direction.

I've seen that there are replacement belts available. Is it simply time to replace the existing ones by new ones? Or is there a way of adjusting the belts tension?

Further advice much appreciated.

Cheers
Wolfgang

Hi WolfgangFrom the description provided it doesn’t seem to be a belt issue.

Did you change something else in your setup in the meanwhile (telescope, CCD camera etc…)?

Is it possible that a new balancement should be performed?

There is a way to check and adjust the belt tension, PM us and we will provide you the required instructions.

Best regards

Hello,

i’ve got the belt disintegration issue on my 7 Year old M-uno. Would you please recommend me what would be right belt bundle you sell for it (the full or the basic) since I don’t want to but anything unecessary.
Additionnaly, I would like from you the instructions on how to replace those belts. Actually, the mechanism has four screws but also nails that prevents from accessing the belts that need replacement.

thank you for your advice

Hello

On the basis of our experience the bigger belt never failed, so the Basic Belts Kit (AV-9BLT001) would be enough. In this way the procedure would be easier and you are not going to replace any unecessary part.
Please contact us in PM or via mail for the instructions, so we can give you more detailed information for your mount model.

Best regards
